Second Suspect in Drive-By Shooting Turns Himself In
The second suspect believed to be involved in a drive-by shooting that left a Lubbock man dead has turned himself into police.
Back on Monday, August 9th Lubbock Police officers responded to the 1600 block of Avenue U in reference to a shots fired call. This was at around 11:30 p.m.
On arrival, officers found 39-year-old Seattle Salazar dead in the street.
A witness at the scene said that they saw an SUV circling the area before the shooting, and afterwards, the SUV didn't return. Police used surveillance footage to find the aforementioned SUV, which eventually led them to the driver.
The driver said that he picked up 21-year-old Tazmin Paul from work, and when they stopped at a stop sign, Paul allegedly fired several rounds. The driver said that he kicked Paul out of the vehicle soon after. Paul would end up being arrested and charged with murder the day after the shooting in the 1900 block of East Cornell Street.
Police said in an updated news release that the driver was believed to have been 24-year-old Jesus Tijerina, who turned himself in at the Texas/Mexico border on Wednesday, October 13th.
Tijerina was said to have been in the process of being extradited back to Lubbock County.
