It'd be nice to be prepared for severe storms that are typical of this area during the spring. Texas Tech is making that possible with an event scheduled this weekend. Severe Weather Awareness Day, hosted by Texas Tech University's Chapter of the American Meteorological Society is planned for Saturday with a slate of events.

From 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. at the Science Spectrum on the South Loop between University Avenue and Indiana Avenue, you can catch a variety of activities. The Tech radar and storm-chasing equipment will be set up and you can participate in some hands-on weather experiments. There will be television meteorologists on hand to give you some severe weather safety tips.

The OMNI Theater will be showing "Tornado Alley"(regular theater rates apply). For more information contact Jennifer Daniel in the Department of Geoscienes at Texas Tech, 806-742-3113.
