Lubbock Animal Services Will Reopen to the Public Next Week
Lubbock Animal Services (3323 S. Loop 289) has just announced that they are ready to reopen to the public.
Beginning on Monday, May 18th, their new hours will be Monday - Friday, 9 a.m. - 6 p.m.
There are many wonderful adoptable dogs and cats there for us to meet so now is a great time to really think about adopting a new best friend for you and your family. They are following many important protocols, and have posted details on their Facebook page.
Entering Lubbock Animal Shelter will be by appointment only. So whether you're interested in adopting, rescued a stray or are interested in volunteering, you'll need to call to schedule an appointment. The phone number to call beginning on Wednesday, May 13th is 806-775-2057.
You can call that number to schedule for next week. Only 15 people per hour are allowed into the facility. There is a video on their Facebook page that discusses the limits and protocols. Behavior modification is important to be aware of.
Stray intake is being taken care of by appointment, however, you will need to stay in your vehicle; an employee will come out to you. Their intake is very limited now, so patience and protocols are important.
If you're interested in volunteering, you can, but volunteers are limited and shifts are only 2-hours long.
If you're interested in adopting, visit PetFinder. There are many dogs to meet there, plus some terrific links to help you take care of your new pet.
Curbside adoption is available for Petfinder adoptions, so if you're not comfortable going into LAS, you can still adopt at the curb.
Now is definitely a great time to adopt a new pet. There are many dogs and cats available.
Each week, we feature an Awesome Adoptable Dog of the Week who is at the shelter, which is a free adoption. You can follow this link for more about this week's adoptable dog named Lil One, and download our app to get an alert for each week's new dog.
A big shout out for the amazing team at Lubbock Animal Services. They always work hard for the animals in their care and for our community. It's exciting to see that they are able to reopen to the public once again.
