It was on this day that the lady who turned country music around had a number one record. Patsy Cline was on top of the charts with her song "I Fall To Pieces" in 1961.

After she got out from under a contract that limited her to songs from just one publishing company, Cline teamed up with legendary producer Owen Bradley, and started recording anything she wanted. "I Fall To Pieces" was the one of the songs in that first session.

The song would go to Number One on the country charts and Number Twelve on the pop charts. It would be the first of several cross-over hits she would have over the next couple of years.

Patsy Cline died in a plane crash in March of 1963. She was just 30 years old.
