Willie Nelson Cancels Two More Concerts Due to Illness
Well wishes are in order for Willie Nelson, who has canceled two additional concerts scheduled for February due to an undisclosed illness.
The 83-year-old has canceled two shows in Arizona and New Mexico that were set to take place on Feb. 10 at the Desert Diamond Casino in Sahuarita, Ariz., and Feb. 11 in Albuquerque, N.M., at the Route 66 Casino. The concerts will be rescheduled with information on new show dates to be announced in the coming weeks.
The news follows Monday's cancellation of three other Nelson tour dates (Feb. 6-8) at Buck Owens’ Crystal Palace in Bakersfield, Calif., first reported by the AP. At the time, the country icon’s publicist, Elaine Schock, did not offer the publication any additional details about Nelson’s health troubles.
Country Stars Who've Suffered Tragedy
Previously, Nelson canceled two of five shows scheduled to take place in Las Vegas in late January and early February, due to a “bad cold,” according to Schock. There is no information on whether it’s the same illness that led Nelson to cancel his Bakersfield shows.
Nelson is set to release his new album, God’s Problem Child, on April 28. The album includes 13 brand new songs from the country icon. According to a press release, God’s Problem Child “reflects on mortality while marveling at the beauty and absurdity of it all.”
The album includes a track titled "Still Not Dead," inspired by several death hoaxes that circulated about Nelson online in the last year.
“I got up two or three times in the last couple of years and read the paper where I’d passed away,” he says. “So I just wanted to let ’em know that’s a lot of horses–t.”
