The Rivalry Continues: Texas Tech To Face Off Big Texas School Once Again
After nearly 13 years, the Aggies and Red Raiders will renew their rivalry on the hardwood. Per a news release, Texas A&M and Texas Tech have agreed to a home-and-home series for men’s basketball beginning next year.
Both programs have announced a home-and-home series to compete against one another for the next two seasons, with the first match-up taking place right here in Lubbock, and then the second will be in College Station.
Texas Tech Basketball coach Grant McCasland gave his thoughts on the continued rivalry by saying,
This is the first time the Texas rivals will face off on the court since Valentine’s Day 2012, which was a 47-38 victory for the Aggies. The Red Raiders hold a slight edge in head-to-head matchups at 64-62. These games lead back to 1941.
Texas Tech and the Aggies were once Southwest conference rivals from 1957-1996, then they became Big 12 competitors from 1996 to 2012 until A&M moved over to the SEC.
