We Offically Know What Is Coming To Lubbock’s Old Varsity Book Store

Back in September 2022, Varsity Bookstore announced that it would be closing its doors at the end of 2022.

Varsity Bookstore was opened in 1934 by a former Texas Tech student. The bookstore was located in the 1300 block of University Avenue right across the street from Texas Tech University for almost 90 years.

Now a couple of years later after being closed we officially know what is opening there, Red Raider Outfitters.

Red Raider Outfitters was started back in 1975 as a "destination stop for fans and alumni. Hosting thousands of fans on game day, the store has become a platform where stories of legendary victories are shared and celebrations are reminisced about. Every campus has the shop that has seen it all... we’re that store, and take pride in having that honor."

They have an in-house design team that creates quality collegiate sportswear and apparel with the most innovative designs and the highest standards of craftsmanship. Red Raider Outfitter is alumni-owned, student-operated, and local.

Red Raider Outfitters currently has four locations in Lubbock, with a fifth one coming soon to the old Varsity Bookstore location off of University Avenue.

They are looking to buy back books right now through May 10th so if you have any to sell you can go drop them off and sell them there.
