Krista Gerlich Named to Texas High School Basketball Hall of Fame
The Texas High School Basketball Hall of Fame today announced that it will grow by eight with the addition of the Class of 2025.
The incoming group of inductees is comprised of four coaches and four standout players who are being recognized for their achievements on the court and their overall influence on the game of basketball in Lone Star State.
The new members will be inducted at a banquet on May 10, 2025, at the Hilton San Antonio Airport Hotel during the annual Texas Association of Basketball Coaches (TABC) Clinic.
The coach inductees are Tommy Aldridge, Pamela Crawford, Stan Leech and Danny Nix. The players include Krista Gerlich, Greg Kite, Darryn Shearmire and LaQuan Stallworth.
KRISTA GERLICH - PLAYER
Krista Gerlich was a three-time All-State basketball player while attending Sudan and Spearman high schools. She won a state championship in basketball in 1987, and helped Spearman win a state championship in cross country in 1988. She was also a four-year All-State runner and medaled at the 1989 State Track Meet in the 1,600 meters. Gerlich went on to play basketball for Texas Tech and helped guide her team to the 1993 NCAA Title. Many of her records still stand at Texas Tech where her jersey was retired in 1993. She is currently the head coach of the Lady Raiders.
