Every year Lubbock's South Plains Fair is such a fun and big event. This year it's back and we're so excited.

There are some big changes from 2021 to 2022 for the South Plains Fair: new rides, new food and also some new entertainment.

The fair's preview night will kick off on Thursday, September 22nd, 2022 with Buck-a-Ride night from 6 to 11 p.m. This is a great time to go for families, with free parking and admission, and $1 rides all night long.

The actual fair goes from Friday, September 23rd to Saturday, October 1st.

This year there will be a lot of free entertainment and even a new ride called The Wave Swinger (see below). Some new food this year is brought to you by Wrench It Forward, a local nonprofit, who will be selling waffles on a stick.

This year will be bigger and better than 2021 because they will have 42 food vendors so all your favorites should be back. The fun will be brought to by Reithoffer Shows for all the carnival and ride fun.

Just like last year, there will be no shows this year at the Fair Park Coliseum. While that may be a bummer to music fans who dig the free concerts featuring popular musical acts, there's a silver lining. Coliseum updates may be on the horizon. The South Plains Fair wants to update the venue before they host shows there again.

Rock-It the Robot will even be back this year to see everyone and has a new upgraded outfit that we already love.

Mega Passes are now on sale at the South Plains Fairgrounds and will go on sale online on August 1st for $70. The last day to get that pass is Saturday, September 17th, 2022.

You can find out more about their fair on their official website. The South Plains Fair is located at 105 E Broadway in Lubbock, Texas.
