Let's pop the top on some holiday cheer and listen to one of the great drinkin' songs in country music. It comes from a singer who had a several hits, and owned a bar that was so popular, it was featured in a movie and was associated a social movement.

 

Mickey Gilley became a superstar in the mid 70's. He had a bar called Gilley's Club in Pasadena,Texas. The movie "Urban Cowboy" starring John Travolta was filmed there. It was based on the bar and the people that hung out there. It also started a social movement, with dance and fashion.

At one time Gilley had six straight Number One songs. One of those was "Girls All Get Prettier At Closing Time". It was on top of the charts in 1976.
