One man is in the hospital with serious injuries after he was involved in a crash the night of Wednesday, June 30th, 2021.

It happened at the intersection of 24th Street and Slide Road in Lubbock at roughly 9:35 p.m.

Police say that 32-year-old Justin Skaggs was riding his motorcycle northbound on Slide Road in the right lane of traffic while the driver of an SUV was traveling westbound in the 5100 block of 24th Street. It's said that the motorcycle collided with the back of the SUV.

After the collision occurred, the driver of the SUV is said to have fled the scene.

When officers arrived on the scene, Skaggs was transported to University Medical Center via ambulance, where he remains with serious injuries.

Not even 5 minutes after the initial collision, police say that the same SUV was involved in a different crash near 19th Street and Frankford Avenue. Witnesses at the scene were able to obtain the SUV's license plate number, so Lubbock County Sheriff's Office Deputies were able to located the listed address, as well as the driver.

The SUV driver's identity has not yet been publicly revealed, and no arrests have been made as of the writing of this article.

Only one person was reported to have suffered minor injuries as a result of the second crash.
