The mission of the American Cancer Society is to have those who smoke to quit during the Great American Smokeout, Thursday, Nov. 17th. It's a day to show the dangers of tobacco and smoking and how individuals can quit.

According to the American Cancer Society, more than 46 million people in the United States still light up.

I started smoking when I was in my mid teens and quit when I was 35. I was close to smoking 2 packs a day. In fact when I walked in the studio, back in the day when you could still smoke in the studio, I needed a new pack of cigarettes. I would almost go through that pack in 4 hours.

The way I quit was through a stop smoking clinic. It was all a mental thing, associating smoking with things I didn't like.

I stuck with the plan and I quit in 5 days. That was back in 1985. I really wanted to stop and I stuck with the plan. That's the thing, you have to stick with the plan you have to quit.

There are different ways to quit smoking. You may need someone to help remind you. Check this out.
