For the first time in the new decade, the Hub City saw snowfall.
The winter weather happened overnight on Saturday, January 11th. `The amount of snow wasn't much, though -- around 1 inch, according to National Weather Service Lubbock. But it was enough to surprise many residents.
The winter snow has already caused the city to close some roads. You can see an updated list of Lubbock road closures here.
Two crashes occurred north of Lubbock Preston Smith International Airport in the 8 o'clock hour, although it's currently unclear if they were a direct result of the winter weather.
According to KAMC News, one crash led to the second one. Several people were injured, including two Lubbock Fire Rescue firemen and a Lubbock Police Department officer. The crashes led to authorities shutting down I-27 in the area.
Lubbockites shouldn't expect the snow to last long, however. According to NWS Lubbock, temperatures could get up into the 50s this afternoon.
