Laughter And Music Abounding On Stage In “Poker And Lace” Opening Saturday

I'm always looking for a great stage comedy to work on...preferably have a little acting to do as well as directing. And think I've found it with the next production opening at the Cactus Theatre in the Depot District this Saturday. It's called "Poker and Lace" and with 13 actors I've got my hands full. Carla Ann Thompson and Brian Thompson wrote this little comedy-drama, being inspired by the old movie from the 1960s, "A Big Hand for the Little Lady", starring Henry Fonda and Joanne Woodward.

It's a family-friendly fun time with a lot of faces you'll recognize from the Cactus stage: Kurt Kiser, Jeff Bailey, Brittany Hoffman, Marilyn Arland, Jay Hoes, Jere Lowe, Eddie McBride, Todd Klein, Rob Holton, Colton Kiser, Shawn Wilson, Mark Martin and yours truly. The show is set in the Old West in the late 1800s and we've added current day songs. Kinda like "Blazing Saddles" meets "Butch Cassidy". Runs Saturdays, July 9, 23, 30 and August 6.
