Country music up-and-comer Kaitlin Butts brought a little bit of Oklahoma to Lubbock, Texas' JAB Fest this Saturday.

In an interview before the show, the very down-to-earth singer told Lonestar 99.5's Jan Miller that she couldn't believe it when the Josh Abbott Band asked her to play the huge outdoor concert.

"That's something you dream of when you're first starting out, like, Josh Abbott asking you to play on his festival. That just didn't even seem like it could be in my realm of things that I could do to start out with," she said. "All my friends from high school are all doing their own thing, and [Josh Abbott] is a name that they recognize, so they think I'm super-cool for being friends with Josh Abbott, or being buddies with him where I'm on his festival."

It's safe to say Kaitlin's opening set earned her some new fans. And with a musical style inspired by Miranda Lambert, Dixie Chicks and Dolly Parton, it's clear Kaitlin will be around for a long time.
