It's hard to believe with all of the snow and ice on the ground that this is the time when we should be celebrating our keisters off instead of freezing them off. Today is Fat Tuesday, or as it's known in my house, Tuesday

This is what we should look like today, enjoying one last chance to cut loose before Ash Wednesday and the beginning of Lent:

This is what we should look like today. Enjoying one last chance to cut loose before Ash Wednesday and the beginning of Lent.

(Speaking of Lent, what are YOU planning on giving up? Me? I'm giving up weighing myself. It's getting depressing.)

All over the Hub City, bars should be filled with revelers enjoying a few libations before the arrival of the holiest part of the liturgical year. However, with Covid-19 still a part of our world, and now this wicked Polar Vortex nonsense, it's best to stay off the roads, stay at home and sit this one out this year.

If you must head out, maybe you can pick up a King Cake and a bottle of Pat O'Brien's Hurricane Mix to try and recreate the feel of a real Bourbon Street shindig. Look up a recipe for some great beignets and then some shrimp and grits to truly get that authentic New Orleans vibe going.

Admittedly, there are some hearty (and psychotic) souls who are willing to brave the elements to get their party on. However, looking out the Townsquare Media Weather Window™, this is what we see.

A whole bunch of frozen NOPE.

So, stay off the roads, warm yourself up and enjoy a lovely libation from the comfort and safety of your living room. That's my plan.

TIPS: Here's how you can prepare for power outages
