Daylight Saving Time is set to end on Sunday, November 5, at 2:00 a.m. for Texas.

At 2 a.m. on Nov. 5, Texans will gain an hour of sleep as clocks fall back an hour. The winding of the clock each year starts on the second Sunday in March and ends the first Sunday in November.

Officials have reminded the public to turn their clocks one hour behind on Saturday night or when they wake up on Sunday morning.

Daylight saving time is the method of moving the clocks forward one hour from standard time during the summer months and changing it back in the fall, according to the Old Farmers Almanac. Arizona and Hawaii do not observe the seasonal time shift.

According to the National Conference of State Legislatures, 19 states don't change their clocks twice a year for daylight saving time.

There’s been a push to end daylight saving time in the United States, however, there is still no nationwide law in place as of this fall.

Back in April, the Texas House voted 136-5 to give initial approval to HB1422, to stay on daylight saving time moving forward.

Lubbock Fire Rescue also encouraged the public to test their smoke and carbon monoxide detectors to see if the batteries need to be changed.

Daylight Savings Time is expected to “spring” into action on Sunday, March 10.
