There's something that's been bugging me that I really feel grocery store bosses should address. I know employees don't mean to be thoughtless, but there are some things they do that really get me. It seems every time I'm checking out, the sacker comes along and starts a conversation with the checker. Something about 'whatcha doing after work?" or "what time you get off?" or "I can't wait til I get off". Of course this is after the "paper or plastic?" question they throw my way.

Because they can't wait to get off, I feel I'm slowing them down and am in their way and making it harder for them to reach that goal. I know I'm being a big baby on this, but maybe you've run up against the same situation?...just asking. And, here's my advice, which with a quarter isn't worth a dime, but....I really think the old adage of "If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all" would be best. Silence. Just silence, and of course a smile would be pleasant. That way the shopper won't feel so 'in the way' and another benefit would be that as you're un-sacking things at home, you won't feel quite so agitated when you realized they've stuffed the bread into a sack with something that squashed it shapeless. Just talkin here. But, you know.....I feel much better. Thanks
