It's the first weekend of the new year and kickin' it all off is a special Saturday show at the Cactus Theater in the Depot district that pays tribute to the "King", Elvis Presley, as Sunday, Jan.8 is his 77th birthday. An extremely talented group of singers gives their take on Elvis tunes at a show starting at 7:30. Cactus regulars, Jeff Bailey, Dustin Garrett joined by the likes of Mike Pritchard and Hannah Jackson and many others.

It should be quite a show. Also this weekend Manny Rodriguez will perform Friday night at Triple J's Chophouse in the Depot followed by D.G. Flewellen on SAtuday night there. And it's the First Friday Art Trail. At the Legacy Event Center at 1500 14th Friday you can catch a great demonstration of water color techniques. Or you can head out to Movies 16 and see a couple of movies opening this weekend, "The Devil Inside" and "Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy". One last possibility for entertainment lies at the United Spirit Arena as the Red Raiders go against Baylor Saturday at 12:30 p.m.. Go yell for Texas Tech and great basketball action. From sports to movies to the Elvis birthday show, enjoy the many facets of entertainment possibilities in the area this weekend.
