Lubbock police officers responded to a shots fired call at roughly 11:22 p.m. the night of Wednesday, June 9th, 2021. Officers arrived at the Ella Apartments, located in the 1100 block of 58th Street, and found a 14-year-old boy with a life-threatening gunshot wound.

That boy, now identified a Dequavion Traylor, was transported by EMS to University Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead.

There were no witnesses on the scene to help police paint a better picture of what happened.

Police actually said in reports that they still don't know the identity of the person responsible for the shooting and are asking for the public's help.
