Contributions to Lubbock Area United Way Reach Almost $7 Million
At the Celebration Luncheon held on Tuesday, November 30th, Mark Griffin, Lubbock Area United Way Campaign Chair announced that the community had contributed almost $6 million to its 2021 Annual Campaign.
The exact amount, $5,903,976, surpasses the goal for the entire year, and on top of that, United Way President and CEO Glenn Cochran announced an additional $1 million gift to United Way's endowment from the CH Foundation.
Donations that were given through the Annual Campaign all go towards the work of United Way and Community Partners that work to assist people with needs like affordable childcare, crisis situations and youth mentoring.
Mark Griffin thanked the community by saying:
Inspiring new stories every day. That’s what United Way and its Community Partners are in the business of doing. You are part of that. You are a thread in that tapestry of stories that stretches from 1946 all the way to today.
During the Celebration Luncheon, United Way also recognized 2020 Rita Harmon Volunteer Service Award honoree Robert Taylor, who has been an active volunteer and advocate for United Way along with multiple other nonprofits throughout the area.
