Chris Beard is a national treasure. There's no better way to describe him as a person. I mean, we could go on and on about his success here in Lubbock as the head coach of the Texas Tech men's basketball team and how they are going dancing for the second straight year as a #3 seed in this year's NCAA tournament, but anytime he does something media related, it's gold.

Beard joined Scott Van Pelt on Sunday night to talk about his team and how even though Tech is ranked very highly, they should not be complacent. Van Pelt then asked how they get past the fact that they were upset by West Virginia in the Big 12 tournament, and Chris Beard told him a story about how they burned their stat sheet in the parking lot of a movie theater here in Lubbock.

Learn and burn, three little words that mean a lot more than what they are worth. It's another fantastic coaching method that Beard will continue to use throughout his tenure here for the Red Raiders.

Also, the fact that Chris Beard said he FaceTimed some of the seniors from last year's team shows me that he doesn't just care about the group of players he has currently, but he still shows a tremendous amount of support for those that have come through and donned the Double T during his time.

I can also promise that at some point in the immediate future, there will be "Learn and Burn" t-shirts running rampant through stores.

The 3-seed Red Raiders will play the 14-seed Northern Kentucky on Friday in the round of 64 at 12:30 p.m. If they win the opening game, they'll face the winner between Buffalo and the play in game-winner 11-seed matchup, either Arizona St. or St. John's.
