A brand new Boba Tea place called Pearl Tea is getting set to open this July at 26th and Boston in Tech Terrace here in Lubbock according to Lubbock in the Loop and their Instagram page.

They have the same owners and will be a sister-business to West Straws at 3709 19th street. They will have many of the same wonderful teas, currently served at West Straws at Pearl Tea when it opens.

West Straws and Pearl Tea are owned by Texas Tech alum, husband and wife, Nathan and Tessa Spencer. We had an opportunity to speak with Tessa and she shared her love for the Texas Tech community and Lubbock. Our great Tech Terrace neighborhood has really inspired them. They look forward to opening Pearl Tea and really embracing this Lubbock community.

They will serve up a great variety of Boba teas, organic teas, milk alternatives, fruit teas, coffee drinks and pour-overs, and much more including baked treats, like macarons and pastries with gluten-free options.

We can also look forward to a wide variety of fresh fruit smoothies plus kombucha and some handmade items!

Much like West Straws, they will have a cozy seating area, a space to gather with your crew, or relax on your own with a book or your laptop.

Tessa Spencer shared their story with me in a statement:

Nathan and I both went to Texas Tech and met while attending there! We have lived in Tech Terrace off and on over the years and really enjoy the international culture, the old houses, the quaint neighborhood, the college students, and the active lifestyle! We are hopeful that Pearl Tea will be a gathering place for people of all nations to enjoy each others company over a tea, study with a friend, or just a nice relaxing healthier hangout. We will be serving Boba Tea, Milk Tea’s, Organic Tea’s and smoothies, blooming tea’s, fruit tea’s and a few coffee drinks as well. We are also hoping to have gluten free baked goods and a variety of pastries and possibly some panini’s!

Congratulations to the Spencers on their wonderful vision and new Lubbock businesses. We wish them tremendous success and look forward to stopping in for a visit!
