On Saturday, October 2nd another person was arrested at the South Plains Fair for bringing a gun.

KAMC News reports that this all happened a little bit after 8 p.m. after a witness told the Lubbock Police Department that they saw the suspect, now identified as Miguel Saenz, drop a firearm before picking it up and running through the fairgrounds. An off-duty officer with LPD was told this by another officer.

Eventually, the off-duty officer located Saenz, grabbed his arm and questioned him about what he was told. Saenz told the officer that the firearm was inside his backpack. A search of the backpack confirmed this.

Saenz was then taken into custody and brought to the Lubbock County Detention Center.by a patrol unit outside the South Plains Fair fairgrounds.

This isn't the first time someone with a gun was arrested at the South Plains Fair during the 2021 season. KFYO News previously reported on an unidentified juvenile who brought a firearm to the South Plains Fair on September 23rd. That juvenile was said to have become "hostile" when officers confronted him, allegedly spitting in an officer's face while being placed into a patrol vehicle.

A comment on the matter has yet to be given by the South Plains Fair.
