Will Shaq Be At Big Chicken’s Opening Week In Lubbock?

Shaquille O’Neal is known for a lot of different things: basketball, rapping, acting, and now owning a fried chicken chain restaurant.

Back in April 2022, I told y'all he was opening this store called Big Chicken. He was set to open 50 stores in the Lone Star state. I know a lot of people that tried it and said it is really good.

Soon Lubbock will be able to try it as well.

Big Chicken's menu consists of fried chicken sandwiches, chicken tenders and sides. A lot of the menu items are named after important individuals from O’Neal’s family and career. The best-selling menu item is the Uncle Jerome, named after a childhood friend. The one in Lubbock will have about 11 menu items.

Shaq already knows and loves Lubbock. He has been here to perform and now he is coming for a new restaurant too and I am so excited to try it!

According to the press release, he will be expanding all over West Texas and Oklahoma.

“I’ve worked in restaurants for nearly my entire life, and Big Chicken is unmatched in its category. The way the concept has been developed from operations and innovation standpoints is truly amazing. The brand story, the leadership team and the menu are all clear differentiators. I am blown away,” said Jones, who prior to owning and operating restaurants held executive sales positions in the high-end wine industry. “Plus, to be in the same business family as Shaquille O’Neal means we instantly have fantastic credibility given his entrepreneurial successes.”

Honestly, I can't wait to get there all the food sounds amazing. My mom has had it in Austin and said it was really good. I mean look at all these endless options.

The restaurant will be opening at 7411 Milwaukee Avenue, Lubbock, TX. The old Chinese Kitchen location. They are bringing in people to start training on the 17th and then want to be open by the end of July or the first week of August.

The owners are also supposed to be here the first week they are open so I am hoping that means Shaq too. I would wait in line to meet him for sure!!!!

Also keep an eye out because normally at every opening they do a really cool giveaway where "the first 34 people in line will have the chance to win $10 worth of free food per week for a year, as a nod to Shaq’s retired jersey number."
