A man was arrested in the case of a hit and run that occurred towards the end of March. The Lubbock Police Department released a statement that 22-year-old Christopher Holyfield had turned himself over to authorities for a hit and run.

That hit and run occurred back on March 24 just before midnight near 19th Street and Kelsey Avenue. When police arrived at the scene they did discover the body of 20-year-old Keyanna English-King who was declared deceased at the scene. Following English-King's death her family turned to the public for their help in getting information in who might have run her over.

After a couple of weeks with no answer investigators were able to locate that vehicle, Jeep, that was used to strike English-King while she walked on the South side of the 8800 block of 19th Street. Investigators were led to Holyfield after reports of damages to his Jeep which seemed to match the damages in connection to English-Kings injuries. According to KAMC news investigators were able to speak with Holyfield about the damages and told police he had hit a hog and checked on the animal after it happened.

As part of their investigation police took the Jeep to gather further evidence and were soon able to obtain an arrest warrant for Holyfield, which they received on April 3. KAMC news reports that Christopher Holyfield did turn himself over into police custody at around 8 a.m. on Tuesday, April 4. Holyfield is currently charged with Failure to Stop and Render Aid Causing Death and is being held on a $30,000 bond.

Failure to Stop and Render Aid Causing/Resulting in Death is a second-degree felony in the state of Texas. If Holyfield is convicted of just those charges he could face between two to 20 years in prison along with a $10,000 fine. We previously reported that Keyanna's family was seeking help paying for her funeral and they are still currently accepting GoFundMe donations to help lay her to rest.
