A robbery in Lubbock over the weekend turned into a vehicle pursuit.

According to KAMC News, the Lubbock Police Department received a report of a theft and were dispatched to a business Saturday night (July 30th) at 10:22 p.m. in the 2900 block of 50th street. Police that arrived on scene saw three suspects leaving the store and attempting to flee the scene in a vehicle.

Officers tried to prevent the vehicle from leaving by blocking it in. This was when the driver, 35-year-old Yvette Rubio, allegedly backed into a patrol vehicle and escaped the scene causing police to pursue the vehicle.

While in the vehicle pursuit, Rubio reportedly drove into the neighborhood of Boston Avenue and 40th Street before driving into the 2500 block of 40th Street. She then drove the vehicle through a residential front yard, striking the fence of a second residence and hitting a tree of a third residence, causing the vehicle to make a complete stop. One of two passengers, 39-year-old Adam Almaraz, ran away from the scene on foot, but was later discovered by police hiding in some shrubs.

Rubio did suffer moderate injuries and was transported to University Medical Center. She is currently facing charges of Aggravated Robbery-Felony of first degree, Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity-Felony of the First Degree, and Evading in a Vehicle-State Jail felony.

Almaraz is being charged with Aggravated Robbery-Felony of first degree, Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity-Felony of the First Degree, and Evading on Foot-Class A Misdemeanor.

The second passenger, 25-year-old Gloria Martinez, is being charged with Aggravated Robbery-Felony of first degree and Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity-Felony of the Second Degree.

Martinez and Almaraz are currently being held in the Lubbock County Detention Center, while Rubio remains at UMC as of Monday afternoon.
