We were all sad to see the Schlotzsky's on Indiana Avenue close, but I have some good news on what is coming next.

That Schlotzsky's closed a while ago. I noticed that they've torn down the building, and we finally know why.

A Scooter's Coffee is coming there and it will be a perfect spot for it. This will be like a coffee kiosk kind of store. This company is actually opening more than one location in Lubbock.

Scooter's is now approaching hitting 600 stores operating across 27 states and commitments to open stores in 30 states. The U.S. coffee market is an estimated $48 billion a year industry, and with a 664-foot proven kiosk model Scooter’s Coffee is striving to become the no. 1 drive-thru coffee franchise in the nation.

This company was founded in 1998 by Don and Linda Eckles in Bellevue, Nebraska. Scooter’s Coffee claims to "roasts only the finest coffee beans in the world at its headquarters in Omaha, Nebraska."

The Scooter's Coffee Brand Promise often recited to franchisees, customers and employees is: "Amazing People, Amazing Drinks… Amazingly Fast!"

While I've never had any of their drinks myself, I do look forward to a new coffee shop in the area. While looking at their menu, I think I want to try the Strawberry Acai Quencher and Iced White Mocha.

Their two locations will be at 8101 Indiana Ave. and 6317 Milwaukee Ave. There are also three more locations coming but they are to be determined. They are all pending real estate submissions.
