Well, that's not something you see every day.

A Lubbock resident shared a video on Facebook of a black truck engulfed in flames and billowing black smoke on 50th Street right next to Monterey High School. This alarming incident occurred Tuesday, September 6th, 2022.

There weren't any articles written about the incident yesterday, so we contacted the Lubbock Fire Department to ask them if they could give us any details on the situation.

An LFR Representative told 94.5 FMX that the call came into the fire station at 2:54 p.m. and the scene was cleared by 3:31 p.m. There were no reported injuries, and it's unclear how the fire began in the first place.

As of this article, the video has been viewed just over 1,000 times.

State Farm published an article with some of the warning signs to be aware of that could potentially lead to vehicle fires. They include: fuses that blow repeatedly, spilled oil left under the hood from an oil change, fluid leaks under a vehicle, loose or cracked wiring with exposed metal, loud sounds from the exhaust system, rapidly changing fuel levels, oil levels, or temperatures, missing a cap from the oil filter, and broken or loose hoses.

If you ever smell smoke or see flames coming from your vehicle, it's important to remain calm. Stop the car and turn it off. Get everyone out of the car and forget your personal items or belongings because those can be replaced. Move at least 100 feet away from the vehicle and contact 911, and, if at all possible, alert other traffic to the incident.
