It was a season that start out on a good note. The Lady Raiders were rolling right along, going 14-0. That included a big early win over one of the top teams in the Big 10, Penn State. In fact, the Lady Raiders were ranked as high as Number Ten heading to Norman Oklahoma to play the Sooners. Then the bottom fell out.

Tech lost to the Sooners and from that point, Jan. 11th to the end of the regular season, March 3rd, the Lady Raiders went 4-12.

Before the meltdown, it look for certain that Tech was going to be dancing in the NCAA Tournament for the second consecutive year. But it was not to be.

Despite what was happening they continued to fight and ended the season beating Kansas State on the Wildcats home court 64-63. Tech lost earlier to K-State by one
62-61 here in Lubbock.

They took that momentum of beating the Wildcats into the Big 12 Tourney and beat Texas for the second time this year before losing to #1 Baylor.

Now the Lady Raiders will compete in the WNIT. They will host Eastern Illinois at 7pm this Thursday in the United Spirit Arena. The Panthers come in with a 22-8 record. Tech is 19-13.

It may not be the NCAA, but it still a prestigious tournament to be a part of. The Lady Raiders get to play on and have a chance to bring home a championship.

The winner of the Tech/Eastern Illinois game will face the winner of Tulane/Mississippi Valley State, who are also playing on Thursday.
