Texas Tech slotted in third in the Big 12 and 14th nationally, with West Virginia and Texas at 15th and 19th, respectively.

It's not just the AP poll that's high on the top half of the Big 12. The Ken Pomeroy rankings also have the same five teams high in their rankings, with all five actually inside the top 10 nationally. Kenpom.com has the teams in the same order, with Baylor at no. 1, Kansas at no. 5, Texas Tech at no. 6, West Virginia at no. 8 and Texas at no. 9.

The next closest team is Oklahoma sitting at no. 31. On the other end of the KenPom metric is Kansas State, which is the worst-rated Big 12 team at 133rd overall.

The Red Raiders' season starts with Northwestern State coming to Lubbock on November 25th, 2020.
