Taylor Swift Tells ’60 Minutes’ She Feels Responsible for ‘Raising the Next Generation’
Taylor Swift understands the responsibilities of being a country music superstar, and she isn’t running from them. A preview of Swift’s interview with ’60 Minutes’ anchor Lesley Stahl — seen below — shows the 21-year-old singer talking about facing up to fan expectations.
“I definitely think about a million people when I’m getting dressed in the morning,” Swift says about being a role model.
The interview will air on CBS this Sunday at 7PM ET. It appears to have been filmed in Swift’s home, unless it’s just coincidence that a fireplace with Swift’s lucky number in roman numerals rests just over her left shoulder.
“It’d be really easy to say, ‘I’m 21 now. I do what I want. You raise your kid.’ But that’s not the truth of it. The truth of it is that every singer out there with songs on the radio is raising the next generation, so make your words count.”
The interview was recorded prior to Swift winning the 2011 Entertainer of the Year award at the CMAs last week. That win seemed like redemption of sorts for Swift, who admits that even with all of her fame and success, insults still hurt. “I don’t have thick skin,” she says, according to a report by CBS News. “I hate reading criticisms. You never really, like, get past things hurting you.”
