Lubbock residents are getting ready to pick their new electric providers later this year but LP&L has one last gift for their customers before bowing out.

The rain we got over the weekend was nice, but having the power knocked out for that long was a tad aggravating.

Xcel Energy said in a press release that they should be able to supply enough electricity to meet demand in summer 2022.

At around 6 p.m. on Monday, February 15th, Southwest Power Pool, the transmission grid supplying Lubbock Power & Light's electric grid, returned to Energy Emergency Level 2.

Higher than normal temps are taking their toll across the state, and the Public Utility Commission of Texas is asking residents to cut back on their power usage.

It seems like the only thing people do is complain about LP&L. I want to give them a HUGE shout out for their incredible work.

With the summer coming up it is a good idea that the kids in your life know the dangers of electricity and power lines.

We in Lubbock, Texas are suffering with the worst heat and the driest year on record which leaves many folks having to ask for help when it comes to paying their electricity bills.  But, there may be help on the way. Well, there WAS help on the way...
