New Lubbock Food Truck Sweet Loop Boasts One of the City’s Rarest Treats
Sweet Loop is a locally-owned food truck that handcrafts Churro Loops and serves it with ice cream.
Their churros are made fresh using a traditional Mexico City-style recipe and then shaped into a loop, hence the name. It starts with the base, whatever flavor ice cream you want, like vanilla, chocolate or strawberry and then they top it with hand made syrups and flavored Mexican creams. They even have little extras such as Andes Mint Chocolates, Fererro Rocher Truffles, and even Fruity Pebbles. The best part? It's topped with a homemade churros loop.
Along with their main menu items, Sweet Loop plans to offer a small batch of homemade ice cream of the week. For example, lime sherbet, hot Cheetos or a classic pairing, like mango chamoy.
After looking at their menu, I'm having a hard time deciding which one I would want to try. The chocolate lover in me says Churro Dulce, which comes with vanilla ice cream, chocolate fudge, Kit-Kats and M&M's.
Last Saturday on October 9th, Sweet Loop had a soft opening for the Lubbock community. They said they had some kinks to work out, but are so thankful for the support of the town. That day they were located at 84th and I27, but since it's a food truck, we don't know where they'll be next.
As for when their next opening is, they sadly haven't announced it yet. But you can stay up to date by liking their Facebook page.
Until Sweet Loop opens up, there are plenty of other places you can go to satisfy that sweet tooth of yours: Kurbside Sweets, The Ruffled Cup, Pie Bar and Holly Hop Icecream Shoppe.
If you have any recommendations for new places to try or restaurants/food trucks we have not covered please reach out to me at Kelsee.pitman@townsquaremedia.com, we would love to feature as much about Lubbock and the South Plains as we can. I look forward to talking with you.
