If you were out shopping last Friday through Sunday, you were one of the many who made history. According to a survey done by the National Retail Federation, shopping was up from last year. They found that a record 226 million shoppers were out Black Friday weekend, visiting stores or websites. That's up from 212 million a year ago. The average spending rose from $365.34 in 2010 to $398.92 this year, with nearly half of all shoppers going to a department store. 38% went to discount retailers (yours truly) and 31% went to electronic stores. And they say if the trend continues, we'll have record buying this Christmas season.
