The week of June 28th, multiple road construction projects will begin in Lubbock, meaning drivers are going to have to find alternative routes.

First, on Tuesday, June 29th, the City of Lubbock and HD Weaver Ditching, Inc. will begin construction on a water line and sewer line tap on 42nd Street and 43rd Street between Avenue L and Avenue J. In a City of Lubbock news release, they specified that 43rd and 42nd will be closed to through traffic between Avenues L and J.

Residents living on these streets will still have access to their homes, but all other drivers heading through this area are asked to find alternate routes.

There will be no street closures overnight, and the construction should only take around a week.

Also on Tuesday, MH Civil Constructors, Inc., under contract with the City of Lubbock, will be working on water valves at the intersection of 50th Street and Indiana Avenue. Several lanes of traffic will be closed due to the water valves being located underneath the street.

All drivers are encouraged to avoid this area if possible, as heavy congestion should be expected in all directions and significant delays will be taking place. This project is expected to also take around a week, weather permitting.
