Pie Eating Contest Kicks Off Meals On Wheels Promotion

Talk about feeding your face. That was taken literally, when local celebrities took part in the Meals on Wheels annual pie eating contest. It kicked off their "Feed a Friend-It's as Easy as Pie" fundraiser.

This is the 20th year that Meals on Wheels as done this and it's easy for you to get involved. For a $5 donation, you receive a coupon for a free Sara Lee pie. You can choose from blueberry, apple to cherry and many more.

Donations can be made at any local United Supermarket or at Lubbock Meals on Wheels at 2304 34th Street.

Lubbock Meals on Wheels hopes to raise over $50,000 this year. They serve meals to some 600 homebound elderly and disabled folks. Meals on Wheels receives no funding from the Government so they really depend on you. For more information call 792-7971.

Now back to the pie eating contest. Then contestants can use their hands and as you can see in the photo, neatness is not required. In fact the best technique is face first and go from there.
