Last night in Levelland, Texas a huge storm hit and people are in need of some help.

The storm took out power lines trees, major buildings and so much more. Now the aftermath is here and it is time for the community to step up.

The Levelland Fire Department has been posting pictures, updates and things for people to do to help. The first thing they need is large 4x4 vehicles that wish to assist public safety personnel.

They are asking you to please respond to the North side of the Fire Department for an assignment and meet with Captain Madewell. Volunteers are welcome at the Levelland Fire Dept. 603 5th Street. Enter on the North side.

Heavy Equipment staging will be at the Mallet Event Center, located at S 2320 US 385.

If you are headed out there please be safe there are a lot of roadways blocked or flooded.

If you are a family in need make sure you dial 911 or contact Levelland dispatch at  806 894 6164 or Levelland Fire at 806 894 3155. For all non-emergencies: call 806-894-6164.

Residents whose property incurred damage from the May 28th & 29th storms are encouraged to log on to the Texas Department of Emergency Management website to take the damage survey.

UPDATE FOR LEVELLAND RESIDENTS AND VOLUNTEERS:

City Operational Facilities, including City Hall, Landfill, Recycling Center, and Swimming Pool are Closed.

Those who need shelter can go to the Student Center at South Plains College.
You can take construction debris and trees/limbs to 4 locations in town: Rail Park- west of 2119 Progressive Place, the vacant lot at Sherman & Maple, the vacant lot behind Walmart (behind Jackson & Sherman) and at City Park (intersection of Houston & Ave. S)

Contractors: Because the City Hall permitting office is closed at this time, ALL Contractors need to check in with Margo Garcia at the Levelland Fire Department, 603 5th St.
All heavy equipment staging is taking place at the Mallet Event Center (for coordinating debris removal)
United Supermarket is open, but are not selling cold items or deli items. They are taking CARD ONLY.
Lucero’s Food Truck will be at 603 5th at the Levelland Fire Department later this evening to donate dinner plates to help those affected by the storm.

Nirvana Burger, DADDY BUG’S Food Truck, Dough-Nut-Patrol , and K&B BBQ will all be set up at Prosperity Bank tonight on College Avenue selling food and dessert from 5-9 pm.
