The person of interest in a shooting that happened the night of Sunday, May 9th in Lubbock still has not been located.

Lubbock Police officers initially responded to a shots fired call at around 11:54 p.m. in the 2800 block of North Quaker Avenue. Upon arrival, officers noticed that multiple homes were damaged by what appeared to be gunfire. 3 homes in total were observed to have been damaged by the gunfire, but no further information was uncovered at that time.

A day later, on Monday, May 10th, Lubbock Police received a call concerning a welfare check for a home in the same area as the shots fired call the night before, but not from any of the homes observed to have sustained damage. Officers arrived at the home and located 69-year-old Willard Justice Jr. dead.

Then, a day after that incident, Tuesday, May 11th, Lubbock Police initiated a traffic stop near 52nd Street and Avenue G at around 2:24 p.m. after officers had located a person of interest in this shooting incident. The driver refused to pull over and led officers on a brief chase before crashing in the 400 block of 38th Street. That person ended up fleeing the scene and has yet to be located by police. The identity of the person of interest has not yet been publicly revealed.
