Nick's Shaved Ice Paradise has a special place in the Lubbock community's heart. They not only serve delicious snow cones, but also do so much more for the workers and the community. They've done a lot to survive long-term and we're so glad to see them still succeeding for their 5th season.

Nick's was started as a nonprofit organization to enhance the lives of adults with developmental disabilities who could not find a job and now provided safe jobs for them. The reason this is so important is that a job gives people a sense of dignity, purpose and acceptance.

They announced this week the future of what Nick's will look like. They're going to keep their little yellow trailer until they can find a step van and fix it up. Once that happens they will convert it into Nick's Differently Awesome Treats so they can offer more than just shaved ice. So exciting!

Bruce Bussell is the unpaid volunteer executive director and the man with a plan. They're asking if anyone knows where they can find one to email Bussell at bruce@differentlyawesome.org. They can't wait to serve the community and plan to open April 2nd through October. Nick's is always open to catering events and you can reach them at 806-391-3911 for more details. You can also follow them on Facebook for more details and keep up with what they are doing.

Their truck parks at various places in Lubbock, Texas, but has a legal address of 2509 56th Street.
