NAAG Pathology Labs of San Diego, who was responsible for providing Medical Examiner services for Lubbock County, said in a letter to Lubbock County Judge Curtis Parrish that they will not renew their agreement with the county.

KAMC News reports that the contract will expire on September 30th, 2019.

In the letter, Dr. Evan Matshes of NAAG says that because NAAG serves a vital role in the criminal justice system, that they cannot allow politics to distract them from providing high quality, reliable medical evidence for the criminal justice and public health systems.

NAAG, Dr. Matshes and Dr. Sam Andrews of Lubbock County were sued earlier this year by a former employee after she claims she was fired after reporting suspicious and potentially illegal activity within the medical examiner's office. The original story can be found here.
