Midland Bring Raucous ‘Mr. Lonely’ to ‘The Tonight Show’ [Watch]

Midland brought their current single, "Mr. Lonely," to NBC's The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Wednesday night (July 24), turning in a hugely entertaining performance.

Mark Wystrach, Cameron Duddy and Jess Carson performed to the delight of the fans assembled in the Tonight Show studio, imbuing their performance with an infectious energy that kept the fun factor high. They essentially transformed the television studio into a Texas dancehall for the duration of their performance, which recalled the glory days of '90s country.

The song describes a good-time Charlie who is the king of the barroom Romeos.

"No I ain't Mr. Right, I'm Mr. Right Now / The one all the girls are talking about / The one and only, Mr. Lonely," the trio sing in the chorus.

The song currently sits at No. 35 on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart after 15 weeks. Duddy, Wystrach and Carson co-wrote "Mr. Lonely" with Shane McAnally and Josh Osborne. It's the lead single from the retro-hip country trio's upcoming sophomore album, Let It Roll, which is set for release on Aug. 23.

Midland are also set to perform "Mr. Lonely" on ABC's CMA Fest televised special on Aug. 4. They debuted the single live at CMA Fest during a show at Blake Shelton's Nashville bar, Ole Red, which acted as the Spotify House during the summer event.

This September the trio will be supporting Tim McGraw in Australia and performing at C2C Festival. Midland will then kick off their headlining Mr. Lonely Tour on Oct. 11 in Midland, Texas.
