Midland’s Mark Wystrach Used to Be a Model
Midland lead singer Mark Wystrach hasn’t always been a country singer, it turns out. In the past, he's put those rugged good looks to work as a model and an actor on a soap opera. Not just any run-of-the-mill model, either — a Dior model!
The artist has several modeling photos in his portfolio, including one for the designer brand, among other ads, and fans of the female persuasion will not be mad about it. Wystrach was signed to an agency called IMG Models — fans can view his full portfolio here. He also starred in the daytime drama Passions.
Now, fans can catch him on stages across the country with Midland, performing songs like "Drinkin’ Problem," which has earned the up-and-coming band their first Top 15 hit (and counting). They just wrapped up a few dates in Canada alongside power couple Tim McGraw and Faith Hill, and they will be joining Kenny Chesney for some shows in August.
Country Music's Hottest Fellas: 2017 Edition
Midland’s debut self-titled EP released last fall, but they are gearing up for the release of their first full-length record this September. They're signed to Big Machine Label Group and have been soaring up the country charts with their debut single over the past few months. The band says they hope the new album represents who they are individually and as a group.
“We’re working really hard at cultivating an album full of songs that mean something to us but also fit together,” remarksCameron Duddy in an interview with Billboard. “Picking songs that fit together nice and tell our story and represent the place that we’re at right now in music has been the agenda for putting this thing together, and we’re very excited to share it with people. We’re proud of it.”
Wystrach adds that their raw sensibility is what makes them special, so they’ll be incorporating that into their record. “Everything’s tracked live, so that’s I think what gives it its spirit,” he explains. “The big thing for us is translating the recordings into the live show ’cause that’s what we are. That’s why we started this band, was to be a band and to play live music out there. I mean, if you can’t do it live, then you’ve got no business doing it; doing any kind of music.”
