Monday evening (August 12th) one person was killed in a motorcycle accident in Central Lubbock.

Lubbock police say the accident occurred just before 6:45 p.m. at the intersection of 38th Street and Wayne Avenue.

A 2007 Pontiac Grand Prix was driving south on Wayne Avenue when a 2008 Honda motorcycle traveling west on 38th Street hit the back of the car as it turned through the intersection.

The driver of that motorcycle has been identified as 21-year-old Garrett Bednarz. He was taken to UMC with serious injuries and pronounced dead shortly after the crash.

The driver of the Pontiac only suffered minor injuries.
