It's time to learn what the new, less-strict water restrictions are for Lubbock.

Although the City of Lubbock is not urging everyone to go out and turn your sprinklers on 24/7, the water restrictions were down graded yesterday as they announced a new watering schedule and stage 1 water restrictions.

It's not expected of you to have every single rule/restriction memorized, but it's still a good idea to make note of the restrictions that do pertain to you and your family.

Here's the list of the new watering schedule for your use:

Watering only between Midnight - 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. - Midnight on the scheduled days between April 1st & September 30th.

• Landscape irrigation allowed 2 assigned days per week

• Irrigation must be limited to 1 1/2 inches of water per zone

• Irrigation must be without significant runoff

• City operations and wholesale customers must adhere to restrictions

• Soaker hoses, drip irrigation, and hand watering is allowed at any time

• The days that irrigation can occur will continue to be based on the last digit of the house or business address:

Monday and Thursday - 3, 4, 9, 0

Tuesday and Friday - 1, 5, 6

Wednesday and Saturday - 2, 7, 8

(For example, if you live at 4502 Indiana, then you would water on Wednesday. )

We've already had an above average winter and summer. The National Weather Service is predicting that the drought will continue to linger throughout the remainder of the summer so it is especially important to do your part to continue to be water-wise!
