A Lubbock woman is asking for donations after her home was destroyed in a fire on Tuesday, May 19th, 2020.

The fire was reported at around 1 p.m. in the 9500 block of County Road 6900.

KAMC News reports that Rachel Penland was inside her home when she noticed her couch had caught fire under her carport. Within minutes, the entire house was engulfed in flames.

Penland was able to get her and both her children outside of the house, but was unable to retrieve her two dogs due to the thick smoke. However, two teenage boys pulled over after noticing the fire, ran inside and save the dogs.

A GoFundMe has been set up by a family friend for donations to be made for the family.

As of 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday, the GoFundMe page was unresponsive, but an update will be provided when a working link is up.
