Lubbock Sheriff’s Lieutenant Reveals Horrible Battle with COVID-19, Fundraiser Started
When someone falls down, the Lubbock community is right there to pick them up and help any way they can. This is no different and it warms my heart. Lt. Jason Colby Stewart has served with the Lubbock Sheriff's department for more than 20 years and he has sadly become extremely ill after catching COVID-19.
The recovery time has taken months to get over and now the community is stepping in to help out. They are currently asking for monetary donations and starting a fundraising event.
Jason took to Facebook to give everyone an update and here is what he had to say: "I can barely write this and it hurts to do so but I wanted to do a group message so here it is," he goes on saying "it sent me into a post COVID seizure due to low o2 levels causing me to blackout, collapse and fall shearing both of my upper arms completely in half, as well as shattering both shoulder bone pockets, to the point they were replaced with cadaver bones."
The fundraiser will be held at The Elk's Lodge on February 18th from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. They will be selling hamburgers and pulled pork sandwiches for $10 a plate and there will also be a raffle and silent auction. Included in it will be firearms, multiple services like pest control, firearm coating, botox and restaurant gift cards, and more.
If you can't make the event but still want to help out you can Venmo at Sonja-Stewart-8 or PayPal via sonja.stewart@lubbockisd.org. All the money is going straight to the family to help pay for his medical expenses.
Jason also said, "my greatest wish is to repay the love and gestures that are pouring in daily. Tears are dropping on my screen as I type so I need to finish this. I love you all. -sincerely Jason Colby Stewart."
