UPDATED 8:20pm, December 31, 2017

Lubbock Police issued a brief update after their initial investigation into the shooting. They state officers were able to determine that the incident stemmed from an altercation between a group of people that began inside the store Footaction. LPD further states the fight appeared to then spill out from the store into the mall commons, when a suspect pulled out a gun and began firing the weapon.

No one has been arrested, and no injuries have been reported. If any one has any information about the shooting, they're urged to call the Lubbock Crime Line at 741-1000.

ORIGINAL STORY, December 31, 2017

Just before 6 p.m. on New year's Eve, Lubbock Police received reports of shots fired at the South Plains Mall.

As of 6:30 p.m., no injuries have been reported. The potential shooting victim, or victims, had not been located at the mall. LPD believes the suspects in the shooting have left the mall.

Additional information is expected to be released late Sunday night or on Monday morning.
