Update #2: The Lubbock Police Department has released the name of the 18 year old who died after being shot in the chest at the South Plains Mall: Christopher Castillo.

The department said in a press release that a $5,000 reward is being offered, and that anyone with details about the shooting can call the Crime Line at: 806-741-1000.

Update: The teenage victim in a shooting at the South Plains Mall late Tuesday night died from his injuries, per an email from Lubbock Police Department early Wednesday morning. His identity has yet to be released.

Original story: Lubbock police are investigating a shooting which occurred Tuesday night.

Officers responded to a shots fired call just before 9:45 p.m. on Tuesday night (May 4th) at the South Plains Mall.

An 18-year-old man had suffered serious injuries as a result of the shooting and was taken to University Medical Center for treatment, police said. The man was found in the southwest parking lot of the mall in the area in between the Premiere Cinema and the carnival, which is currently taking up residence in the parking lot.

LPD says investigators with the Special Crimes Unit are investigating the shooting. So far, no arrests have been made.

Additional information concerning this shooting is expected to be released later this week.
