Lubbock Man Threatened Police On The Phone With Gun He Didn’t Own

An update on the man who threatened Lubbock police officers from the top of a parking garage near the Jones AT&T Stadium Sunday night. The Lubbock Police department's SWAT unit had to be called out to a parking garage at 6:20 p.m. on February 19.

KAMC news reports that a man was at the top of a parking garage and had called police to his location and then threatened to shoot at any peace officers that arrived to the parking garage. Before police arrived that man, identified as 23-year-old William Holmes, stated he would also start shooting at homes in the surrounding neighborhood if police did not arrive.

Holmes did leave the parking garage after stating that police did not arrive quickly enough but was later found near his home in the 1200 block of North Bangor Avenue. It was later revealed that Holmes had actually been involved in a domestic argument that night before the incident at the parking garage.

Holmes was arrested without issue and charged with Making a Terroristic Threat, No Driver's License, and Failure to Display a Driver's License according to the Lubbock County jail roster. Holmes did not have any sort of firearm in his possession when arrested by police.

An alert was sent out to those who were signed up for the TechAlert system at 7:30 p.m. notifying them of the situation vaguely without trying to create a campus wide panic. Those signed up for TechAlert, and had their notifications enabled, were alerted at 8:30 p.m. Sunday of Holmes arrest. As per the publishing of this article Holmes is no longer listed in the Lubbock County Detention Center.
